Show Your Stuff #55
It is hard to belive that Christmas is just right around the corner. I don't think I will be ready, but it usually works out in the end. So here is a twist for the traditional chocolate chip cookie, I added about a cup of crushed pretzel. Turned out really tasty.
Now I would like to see what you have to share.
Merry Christmas!

Show Your Stuff #53 - Cherry Mint Swirl Cookies

Over the past week we have making some cookies. The cookie recipe I am sharing this week is ....
Cherry Mint Swirl cookies
3/4 cup Shortening
3/4 cup Butter
2 cup sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons salt
5 cup flour
2 teaspoons mint flavoring
2 teaspoons cherry flavoring
red food coloring
green food coloring
Mix shortening, butter, sugar, and eggs until creamed. Add baking powder, salt, and flour, mix until smooth. Split dough into 2 halves. on first half add mint flavoring and green food color to desired color, mix well wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. repeat with other half and cherry flavor and red food color. after 1 hour cut each 1/2 in half. then roll out a green quarter on to wax paper (very thin) 1/8" thickness. repeat with other three quarters. Make sure all quarters are about the same size. Place a red sheet on top of green sheet and roll into log, wrap and refrigerate 1 hour. Repeat with other 2 sheets of dough. Preheat oven to 400 degrees, cut logs into 1/4" slices and place on ungreased cookie sheet. bake 7-8 minutes. makes 50-60 cookies.
