We did do a reformat on Charlies computer. We first had to work on the issue of getting his wireless card working, we could not get it to work, once we got the driver to work, his computer keeps rebooting, which is where we are at right now. So now I am doing Google searches to figure out the problem.
I still need to mail him a copy of Ubuntu; you might see if that works any better. It sounds like an installation problem; I just installed XP on Andy's other hard drive and the installation went wonky, causing it reboot after the initial POST.
ReplyDeleteIf you've got a blank CD and a burner upstairs, I'd seriously recommend burning him a copy of Ubuntu; it should work better with a low-resource computer, and whatnot.
I dont have a blank CD or a working burner (maybe on the laptop) I have narrowed the problem with his wireless network card, if it tries to connect it will reboot the computer
ReplyDeleteThis is why I love Mac. They're more expensive, but they just work.
ReplyDeleteAll I'd say at that point is to replace the wireless card. (I didn't realize it was rebooting afterwards; I misread.)
