Holiday Meal - Tasty Eats

Our family met up to celebrate Christmas yesterday. Since we moved into a big enough house, everyone came to our house. In years pasts we have rented out a space at a nearby hotel. My husband did most of the cooking, he made turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, stuffing, chili (requested by my brother-in-law. My mother-in-law use to make chili for him at Christmas) and sweet potato pie. My older stepson and daughter-in-law brought ham and rice. The younger step some made sweet potato salad, a smore dessert, and a chocolate peanut butter dessert. My older daughter made pecan pie. I made toffee squares and dark chocolate chip cookies.

My son got a meat and cheese set as a gift.

The sweet potato salad  made by my step son was probably one of the stars of the meal. It is not the best photo, I wish I had taken a better picture.

I wish I had a large table for everyone to sit at. Everyone was all over the place. We had disposable plates, cups, and cutlery for less clean up.
I had to make toffee squares. My mom had made these all the time around the holidays while I was growing up. It is my favorite. There is usually chopped nuts on top. I left it off because my granddaughter has a nut allergy.

Of course, there are left overs. However, there is no left over turkey or sweet potato salad.
