Chocolate Malt-O-Meal Brownies

I f you’ve ever purchased a box of Chocolate Malt-O-Meal, chances are you’ve come across the Fudgy Chocolate Chip Brownie recipe printed on the box. However, my initial attempt at making these brownies left me unimpressed. Perhaps it was because I omitted the chocolate chips the first time around. But this time, armed with a substitution, I decided to give it another shot. Instead of using baking chocolate, I opted for 1/3 cup of baking cocoa, which happened to be readily available in my pantry. You see, I almost always have baking cocoa on hand, but the bars of baking chocolate are a rarity in my kitchen. To my delight, this batch turned out much better. The brownies were fudgy and delicious—a marked improvement from my previous experience. Here’s the recipe, which you can find on the Malt-O-Meal website or right on the box: Ingredients ½ cup butter or margarine 1 sq. Vintage Buttermilk Waffle Recipe

I love to make waffles, I have multiple blog posts (at least 18) with a variety of ways to make waffles. Here is another recipe I followed from the Betty Crocker cook book I inherited from my grandmother. I do find this book interesting because it is from the 1930's. First I have to mention is still in pretty good condition. That either tells me she took very good care of this book or she did not use it much. I am going to say she hardly used it. I use my Better Homes and Gardens cook book all the time and the book is not in the best shape. This is the page for the waffle recipe. I made the Nut Waffles with the richer waffles recipe.
