Steak and Eggs

Hello! if you are here from the Sustainable Pinterest Challenge, Welcome to Just Winging It, my Food blog.  I usually have it on Treasures Made From Yarn. But since this month's challenge is recipe-related, I thought it would be appropriate to have it here.

My son works in the kitchen of a retirement community. He had brought home a bunch of steaks and crab cakes that normally would have been thrown out.

So I decided to make steak and eggs. you can find the Pinterest link here.

I sauteed some chopped onion in some butter and added the chopped steak and added the crab cake. I made some scrambled eggs and added some shredded cheese. I just put the onion and steak mixture on top of the scrambled eggs.  It was tasty, except that adding the crab cake was a bad idea. It probably would have been tasty with mushrooms. I did put ketchup on this, I have always added ketchup to scrambled eggs.

So that is it, I hope you check out other posts from the challenge.

  1. How wonderful to have a son whose a chef! It's certainly a great idea to bring home leftovers that would be thrown out otherwise. My hubbly loves adding our leftovers to scramble eggs, too! Sometimes the combinations tastes good - other times, not so much! Leftover steak and eggs is always a winner!

  3. Well I'm impressed that you tried to use these leftovers to save waste! I did think, "um, steak and crab cakes, interesting" but then I thought people have "surf and turf" don't they? Next time just have the crab cakes for tomorrow's lunch maybe! I love ketchup on my scrambled eggs too, it really elevates them doesn't it?
